Fish Heads - Barnes and Barnes (1979)

Fish heads fish heads
Roly poly fish heads
fish heads fish heads
eat them up, yum!
Ask a fish head anything you want to
they wont answer they cant talk.
I took a fish head out to see a movie
didnt have to pay to get it in.
They don't play baseball
they don't wear sweaters
they're not good dancers
They dont play drums!!

Rolypoly fishheads are never seen drinking capachino in Italian restaurants
with oriental women!!!!!
Yeah!
Fish heads fish heads
roly poly fish heads
fish heads fish heads
eat them up Yum!
YEEAAHHHH!!!!!!

Movement

This is a question
I massage the words in order
effleurage;
petrissage;
The words of circulation
manipulation and grief

This is a poem
it is not an answer or revelation
a resolution
or solution
to tomorrow or today
an equation unbalanced by itself

This is a mantra
a power rising to surface
worthless
birthless
no beginning, no end
no attempt at simulation

This is a sentence
years and lives of mentors a thousand
teachers
preachers
or politicians praying
their words are truly keys

For all the doors are locked

3 Quotes

"That's how it feels, as if I were an empty shell with something working through me...I can't command whatever speaks through me...I mean, I can't command it yet.  But I shall.  Some day I shall command this part of me that knows and sees, and that really will be power.  I shall know when what I fortell is human instinct, and when it is God's shadow."
-Mary Stewart

"Katagiri Roshi often used to say: 'Take one step off a hundred food pole.'  That's pretty scary, isn't it?  Finally you arrive at the top, and now you can't stay there.  You have to go ahead and step off the edge.  In other words, you can't rest on your success.  Or your failure.  Do not be tossed away by your achievements or your fiascoes.  Continue under all circumstances.  Actually, you don't know for sure that you will fall when you step off the hundred foot pole.  You may fly instead.  There are no guarantees one way or the other."
- Natalie Goldberg

"I refuse to be involved in anything that isn't full of beauty, truth, and grace."

Sandy Denny

How often she has gazed from castle windows all
And watched the daylight passing within her captive wall
With no one to heed her call

The evening hour is fading within the dwindling sun
And in a lonely moment, those embers will be gone
And the last of all the young birds flown

Her days of precious freedom, forfeited long before
To live such fruitless years behind a guarded door
But those days will last no more
Tomorrow, at this hour, she will be far away
Much farther than these islands, for the lonely Fotheringay
